RESPECT EVERY JOB

RESPECT EVERY JOB

“In all labor there is profit, indicating that hard work and dedication can lead to rewards and success, but mere talk and empty words lead only to poverty and lack of fulfillment.” (Proverbs 14:13)
In November 1998, I vividly recall being on a Ghana Airways flight headed for London, my first trip ever to that city.

As the plane took to the sky and soared into the endless space ahead, I settled back comfortably into my seat, ready for excitement and great expectation of this remarkable adventure lying before me.

It then suddenly came to my mind that I was actually going to the United Kingdom with the express purpose of placing a Christmas give away order for a specific company that dealt in waste management. This kind of business, as I thought about it, wasn’t at that time considered a glamorous or respectable business by many.

I symbolically took a few pounds notes from my pocket and smelt them to see if they smelt of rubbish. Of course they didn’t; and that taught me a most important lesson.

Any job or any business that is operated with honesty and high integrity deserves to be respected. If you ever feel that you are involved in some activity or profession that isn’t so glamorous or high profile, but you find it most rewarding, then you must not leave it.

You must not let the decision or judgment of other people stop or turn you away from what you stand for.
Key Thought: May you be grateful for the labor that God has provided for you; and may it give you pleasure and satisfaction, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
