The mystery of the kingdom
Sermon Topic : The mystery of the kingdom
1.0 BACKGROUND / INTRODUCTION.
We thank God for his providence and protection.
May the peace of God be upon us all. Today the sermon is based on Mathew 13. And the theme is the mystery of the kingdom.
2.0 BODY/MESSAGE
Christ tell us about the parable of the sower.
- some seeds fell by the roadside and were taken up by birds.
- Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth. They died where there was a lot of sun.
- And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
- But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Christ said 7 parable in Mathew 13. 4 of them were easy to understand.
When his disciples asked why he speaks in parable?
He told them it ought to be so because not everyone is supposed to understand.
The parable was about the heart.
Sometimes when we hear the word of God, even though we hear but because of pride the word leaves our heart and mind.
For those who have, more will be given but those who don’t, the little they have will be taken away. Because the seed on rocks couldn’t enter the soil it died off. These people are those who begin to do the will of God but as soon as there are challenges they die off.
The one that fell on thorns are those who have bad behavior who they should run away from but are not willing. The thorns(bad behavior) will not allow the word of God to grow in you.
If we are willing to move away from those behavior we will be good Christians. How many of us have been able to win a soul for Christ this year by our way of life alone? What shall we do when God is revealing this mystery to us.
Mark 4:10-12
And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them
You are here because that same opportunity is given to you.
If we fail to take full advantage of this we will not be able to give account to our Maker on the day of judgement.
Are you sure you have found the kingdom of God or you are still searching? If you have found the kingdom then live your life as such. The Bible say let’s not deceive ourselves because God is not mocked. Gal 6:7
If we pesue the world we will derail from the path of righteousness. Let’s endure the challenges in this journey for the rewards awaits us.
In Mathew 16:16-17
Christ speaks of building his church and the same church is what we have inherited.
As a Christian, desist from saying ‘had I know’ .This is so because every christian should plan his life.
Let’s go to the ant for wisdom.
3.0 MEDITATION AND REFLECTION. Has the mystery of God been revealed to me?
-
LESSON
I have learnt that having been called to Christ is a special gift that I must cherish. -
CONCLUSION. Beloved, let’s guide our step in this life. there is life after death and one must be prepared. Let’s not be self acclaimed Christians but Christians that are seen by all.
